Winter Skin Care Tips

Protecting your skin in winter months is a must. The harsh temperatures and low humidity can be detrimental to your skin. The best way to keep skin soft isn’t to add moisture- but actually to keep moisture in.

Here, Ivy specialist Jessica Hoshall offers a few tips on how to keep your skin super soft all winter long.

Shower in warm water- not super hot. The hotter the water is- the more your skin will lose moisture and become dryer. Try to keep showers short and the water on the lukewarm side.

Moisturize as soon as you get out of the shower. Try using Aveda’s Replenishing Body Moisturizer. And every time you wash your hands be sure to lather up- for a tropical fantasy try Aveda’s Caribbean Therapy Body Crème.

Exfoliate often. Moisturizing will be far more effective if your skin has been scrubbed before you apply it.

Try moisturizing gloves for your hands and feet when you’re watching TV. Thickly apply Aveda’s Hand and Foot Relief and let the magic happen.

Protect your lips by regularly applying lip balm- try Aveda’s Lip Saver. And if you don’t have any on hand, try not to lick your lips- this won’t moisturize- it will only dry them out more!
